Our Philosophy

UTOPIA benefits from being part of the Ceroc network but will offer an alternative night of dancing to the normal Ceroc format.

Our traditional UTOPIA events are held in Twickenham and are aimed at those modern jive enthusiasts - like us - who love Blues, Soft Latin, R&B and other slightly slower more chilled-out genres of music with challenging rhythmic breaks and interludes. These events are supported by a broad range of dancers with varying styles such as Blues, WCS, Latin and Tango. If you enjoy slower music and/or want to learn more about these styles of dance, then these are the nights for you.

Our TWISTED events will be held at The Colosseum and are aimed at a broad cross section of dancers. The first part of the evening has an up-tempo vibe that would suit most Ceroc or Modern Jive enthusiasts. This then changes to the slower more intimate feel of a traditional UTOPIA event for the latter half of the evening. This means that it's essentially two freestyle events in one, with the expectation that this will encourage more dancers to crossover from one form of dancing to another.

Our main aim in creating the UTOPIA experience is to encourage more dancers into the Chill-Out/Blues dance environment. This can often be a daunting prospect for anyone on the periphery, which is why we also run regular workshops and classes to help build confidence. Workshops are updated on a regular basis and in addition all of our events commence with a ‘specialist’ dance class – (e.g. Blues, Smooth, WCS, Liquid Latin). This gives dancers the opportunity of trying new moves, styles and sequences before the evening glides seamlessly into hours of chilled and challenging freestyle music.

We pride ourselves on gender balancing our nights, which usually means that ladies' tickets sell faster than men's. As a result we have created a message board on this site to help people exchange unwanted tickets and to enable ladies to seek male partners to book with.
